Built for the Cones, Tuned for the Street
Purpose-built with a no-expense-spared approach toward modern autocross and pro-touring performance, this 1969 Chevrolet Nova represents an incredibly serious high-end build combining big-block muscle, modern suspension engineering, race-inspired driveline components, and true street drivability. Offered on consignment, this professionally assembled Nova project is approximately 87% complete with well over $120,000 already invested into the build. The hard work, fabrication, and premium component selection have already been completed, leaving an outstanding opportunity for the next owner to finish one of the most capable second-generation Novas being built today.
At the heart of the build is a brand new Chevrolet Performance ZZ427/480 427ci crate engine producing 480 horsepower at 6,000 RPM. The legendary big block provides massive torque and unmistakable muscle car character while maintaining the reliability and drivability expected from a modern performance combination. Backing the engine is a brand new Tremec T56 Magnum 6-speed transmission rated for 700 lb-ft of torque, featuring a 2.66 first gear along with .80 fifth and .62 sixth overdrive ratios for both aggressive acceleration and comfortable highway cruising.
The drivetrain was assembled using a premium ProFit Magnum installation package for 1968-72 GM X-body applications and includes an AP Revolution shifter mechanism with factory-style 4-speed shift positioning, seamless 4” aluminum driveshaft assembly, cryogenically hardened 1350 slip yoke, X-Factor hot pressed aluminum crossmember, polyurethane transmission mount, stainless roller pilot bearing, reverse lockout harnesses, mechanical speedometer conversion, QT SFI bellhousing, and a Science Friction Atomic Twin Disc clutch system rated for 950 lb-ft. Additional clutch components include a billet steel flywheel, cryo-hardened low-effort clutch cover and floater plate, twin 26-spline Ceramix discs, and grade-8 fasteners throughout.
Engine management and fueling have been upgraded with a Holley Sniper Super EFI Stealth 4150 fuel injection system, Holley fuel pump and filter kit, MSD ignition box, distributor and coil package, and Magnaflow Street Series performance exhaust paired with Granatelli electronic dual exhaust cutouts. The build was also intentionally engineered around future forced induction capability, with the engine bay and supporting systems designed to accommodate a future ProCharger supercharger setup with minimal additional fabrication required.
The chassis and suspension system were designed specifically around autocross and pro-touring performance using premium Speedtech components throughout. Highlights include a Speedtech rack-and-pinion front subframe, complete SA coilover suspension system, bolt-on 4-link rear suspension, Heim-joint 4-link setup, Tru Turn steering system, billet tie rod adjusters, weld-on rear axle brackets, solid body mounts, and a TruTrack power steering system with remote reservoir. A custom-built 12-bolt rear differential assembly features Motive 3.90 gears, a Wavetrac 35-spline posi differential, alloy 35-spline axles, billet 1350 yoke, TA Performance differential cover, and Timken bearings throughout.
Stopping power comes from a Wilwood Pro Street rear disc brake kit with integrated parking brake system, while cooling duties are handled by a custom dual-fan radiator assembly with fan shroud, dual fan wiring system, overflow tank, engraved 16 lb radiator cap, and 185-degree fan control setup. Fuel delivery is supported by a Rick's Stainless 18-gallon fuel tank featuring a double internal baffle system and mini-tub compatible design.
Inside, the Nova continues the serious driver-focused theme while maintaining comfort and usability for street driving. The interior includes Recaro Specialist S black leather seats mounted on adjustable slider tracks, a GNS Performance Tiger Cage with road race door bars and seat belt bar, provisions for 5-point harnesses, white 6-speed shift knob, and mechanical speedometer conversion. Audio upgrades include JL Audio C2 speakers, a 4-channel Class D full-range amplifier, and a 280-watt audio system.
The exterior has also received extensive custom fabrication work designed to modernize the appearance while preserving the unmistakable identity of the 1969 Nova. All factory side emblems have been removed for a cleaner body profile, while the front and rear bumpers have been custom fabricated and integrated into the build. The result is a smooth, aggressive pro-touring appearance that perfectly complements the modern chassis and wheel setup.
The Nova sits aggressively on custom Forgeline WC3 wheels featuring polished lips, satin black centers, and exposed hardware. The rear wheels measure 18x11 while the fronts are 18x9.5, giving the car an ideal stance for both street performance and track use.
Additional highlights include a seamless race-balanced aluminum driveshaft, stainless roller pilot bearing, hydraulic clutch reservoir upgrade, GM tunnel patch, stainless big-block headers, battery relocation kit, and numerous custom-fabricated supporting components throughout the build.
According to the team at Terminal Velocity of Londonderry, NH — the shop responsible for building the vehicle — the next phase of the project is already outlined and positioned for completion. Planned next steps include installation of the pulley system, completion of the power steering lines, and final routing and installation of coolant hoses. Once completed, the vehicle will be ready for initial engine startup. Additionally, with the remaining headliner clips currently on order, the headliner and interior installation can also be finalized, bringing the build significantly closer to completion.
